GOD'S HOLY WORD

You know God never intended for us to fumble around in the dark,
He did not write us His Holy Word simply on a lark.

God's word is meant to show us the way,
it is a map for our life so that we need not stray.

The Word is a guidebook on how we should live,
if we will consult it a survival maneuver for this world is what
it will give.

The Word will teach us how important it is to pray,
why God loved us so much He even gave us an example of what
to say.

The Word is a History Book so we may see the mistakes made by
others,
and to document the fact that we are all Sisters and Brothers.

The Word tells us of the creation story,
and offers us hope by inviting us each to partake in
Salvation's Glory.

The Word is evidence that Jesus as a human came here to live,
and proof that because of His Crucifixion "Salvation" is a gift
He can give.

The Word offers us Grace, Faith, and Salvation for evermore,
and all that we must do is open our heart's door.

The Word was not individually discovered by you or me,
no The Word was written and meant to be seen by those called on
intentionally.

God knew who would open His Word before this world began,
why he even knew the names of those who would so much as hold it
in their hand.

So if you are feeling inquisitive or drawn to God's Holy Word
even just a bit,
open it and begin digesting so that you may devour all of it.

The Word if well hidden deep within your heart,
will from the very depth of sins deprivations keep you far apart.

Comprehension

I used to open my bible and not understand a word,
then I asked God to help me and the most wonderful thing occurred.

My eyes saw the same words but now could comprehend,
my God heard and an answer He did send.

I used to think love was something to be earned,
but it's free, God's love is free, I've now learned.

The scriptures may as well have been in Greek for what they meant to me,
but God has opened my eyes so now they see.

Rules and regulations that is how I thought of life,
and worrying over following them caused unbearable strife.

What not to eat and what not to wear,
is this a place I should enter or should I stay out of there?

What day is the sabbath I mustn't break the law,
I tried to live my life worrying over every flaw.

I'll never get to Heaven I can't live free of sin,
I'll never make it. I'm not good enough to get in.

What a relief to finally have my eyes opened so I could learn,
salvation is free, not something we have to earn.

Believe to receive, that is what the Bible has to say,
believe in Jesus, He is the only way.

Believe, receive and then confess it to others,
sharing the good news with your sisters and brothers.

Comprehension is understanding the words I read,
now I devour God's Word, I can't seem to fill my need.

I Have A Firm Foundation

I have a firm foundation I formed it with the
Holy Word you see,
and that is an assurance that it will withstand
any storm that comes toward me.

The Bible is the place where I go when I need to understand,
the Bible is where I learned of God's Salvation Plan.

The Holy Word is the food on which my spiritual
life must feast,
and I must go there daily to be sustained once
a day is the very least.

God sent his word to the writers by way of his Holy Spirit,
and we grow stronger and stronger the more we hear of it.

Some of the things in the Bible their meaning to us
would seem rather dim,
without the interpreter whom God sends to reside within.

On the very day we accept his salvation this new life
within us does start,
as the Holy Spirit takes up residence deep within our heart.

The Spirit helps me to comprehend God's Holy Word,
and the Spirit helps me to assimilate God's messages
as they are heard.

I may read the Word in my Bible or I may hear it as
I sit in church,
then God's Spirit brings it forth when I need it never
causing me to lurch.

Yes I have a strong foundation and you can have the
very same as I do,
the material used to build it is entirely up to you.

God supplies the materials and is there for us to consult,
but the building is our duty we are responsible for the result.

You can be assured there will be storms some of awesome
strength,
but I know my foundation will hold no matter the fierceness
or length.

You too can have this assurance just build your foundation
on God's Holy Word,
why anyone would build with out it seems absolutely absurd.

Won't you start on your foundation please start on it today,
the storms will be coming they are probably on their way.
